Birthday Policy

Birthday Celebrations in 2Julie

If you wish to celebrate a birthday in school please let me know ahead of time to make arrangements. Please send the same flavor or type of treat for all the children (no assortments, or half chocolate, half vanilla, for example.) Please note the school policy that birthday celebrations are for the students only also be mindful that treats must be nut-free.  (See list below)

L.S. Policy- John Evan’s Reminder about Birthday Parties: Parents are welcome to send birthday cupcakes or other appropriate snacks to school so that children can celebrate their birthdays with their classmates. Please keep in mind the “Less is more” philosophy when planning your treat. Too much sugar is not good for anyone, and be mindfully vigilant of our nut awareness policy. Events that occur outside of school have an impact on children in the classrooms. Parties for various occasions are in that category. As an institution, we value and expect inclusion rather than exclusion. Also, a better climate for learning is established when all children feel welcome. Invitations to outside parties should not be distributed in school. If you are planning to invite MOST of the class to your child’s birthday party, please invite the entire class. In addition, parties should never emanate from school. I ask that you use good judgment when making these decisions.

Please use these lists for nut-free treats when celebrating birthdays in school:
