First Grade

The science program in 1st grade, continues to explore the world of science through a hands-on inquiry based approach. The program is designed to expand on topics taught in the previous year. Basic laboratory skills are introduced in first grade, allowing students to develop scientific thinking through various experiments and group discussions. Students will experience learning in the science lab, rooftop greenhouse, and around campus as they study topics in earth, life, and physical science. Students will learn the strategies and tools to allow them collaborate with their peers and ask questions to deeply understand new concepts.

Students have science twice during the 10-day cycle. The class is 45 minutes long.
