Third Grade

The third grade science program students are engaged in a learning process that begins with curiosity and moves towards scientific literacy. Students will participate in inquiry investigations where they will be conducting experiments in a pair or group setting which will allow them to collaborate and discuss their findings. In doing so, students will find real world connections as they gain the skills to deepen their understanding of standard based content. Many of the lessons in third grade are aligned with the NYC Department of Education Standards that are rooted in inquiry and scientific literacy. The lessons are designed to support students to think on their own, problem solve, and communicate with their peers to learn important scientific concepts.

Students have science twice during the 10-day cycle. The class is 45 minutes long.
