New Streaks of Silver

As of Wednesday, February 29th, Kiara Rodriguez, Elizabeth Ely, and Brianna Wu, formed a band. With Kiara on lead vocal, Elizabeth on background vocal, and Brianna on the piano, the band’s prospects look bright. Briana started playing piano in 4th grade when she learned that her father had done it as a child. Kiara started singing at age 7, when she saw how much her older sister loved singing at their elementary school talent show. Elizabeth started singing at 5, when her parents encouraged her to sing at the Children’s Aid Society, and she’s been devoted to it ever since. Silver Gravity, as they are called, just finished their first song “Hide Them Away”. Brianna, alone, wrote the music and lyrics for this original song. Olivia Marzovilla, their co-band manager, put a their song on a flashdrive and sent it to the girls’ favorite band, the 2011 runners up on the X-Factor, One Direction. Meanwhile, Emma Haskel, band publicist, has been working on t-shirts and logos for the band. Emma spoke on behalf of the band and said that their second song is coming together well, and Elizabeth may be taking the reigns in the writing of the new song. Elizabeth said she felt the band needed to do a more upbeat song, that is, compared to the more slow and meaningful “Hide Them Away”. The band critic and musical consultant, Jada Jameson, agrees that the band has to do music that is more relatable for people their age. Silver Gravity’s music video producer, who wishes to remain nameless, says that a music video for the group is being planned. According to Brianna, the girls will be playing as the band for the Spring Fair in May. If any seventh grade girls are interested in the being in Silver Gravity, the band is looking for a female to apply for the position of playing lead guitar and drums.

If there are any other bands in the middle school, 5th to 8th grade, that would like to be written about in the next post, please email me at lilyweisberg@friendsseminary.org  Thanks!
