Giants Pour it On at the End

10/25/12

The Giants had their second game 7 this postseason on Monday.  But this time the stakes were higher.  It was game 7 of the NLCS and every single giants fan was watching the game either at home or at AT&T Park in San Francisco.  The Giants had their ace Matt Cain, yes the very same one who threw the perfect game this regular season, on the mound.  Kyle Lohse was pitching for the Cardinals.  Lohse had a horrific game.  He lasted for two innings giving up 5 runs on six hits.  On the other hand, Matt Cain had a terrific game.  He pitched five and two thirds innigs striking out 4 and letting up 5 hits.  The game was over by the third.  The Giants struck first and struck early.  In the bottom of the 1st, Pagan scored on a fielder’s choice to the pitcher.  Then in the second, the Giants scored again bringing the score up to 2 – 0.  The game then fell apart.  Before any outs were recorded Hunter Pence hit doubled to center field scoring two and one on an error.  The score was now 5 – 0.  Michael Matheny then took the field to take ball from Lohse.  But Kelly, Mujica, Rosenthal, Boggs, Salas, and Motte did not do any better.  Together they let up 4 runs on 7 hits.  In the bottom of the 8th Belt decided to add insult to injury by smashing a solo homer to right field bringing the total score to 9 – 0

The Giants had no intension of stopping their roll Wednesday when they took on the Tigers durring game 1 of the World Series.  With Barry Zito facing Justin Verlander the Giants hopes look slim but they wasted no time scoring.  Pablo Sandoval stepped up to the plate and belted a 421 feet bomb to center.  And that got the snowball rolling.  Two innings later the Giants tacked on 3 more runs on a 1 run single by Marco Scutaro and a 2 run shot but Mr. Pablo Sandoval!  Even pitcher Barry Zito decided to add on to the score with a one run single.  The Tigers mad a push to stay in the game in the top of the 9th but were only able to score 2 runs on a 2 run homer by Johnny Peralta.  The final score was 8 – 3.
