Last night was the Middle School Science Fair! It was a very exciting night with lots of cool projects! The sixth and seventh graders’ projects were mainly about earth science, though there was one sixth grade project that was more about neuroscience. The eighth graders had some awesome biology projects (and one of them even offered me a pet sea monkey). Below are some of the projects:
Colin and Yunari: Which size balloon propels a helicopter better?
Chloe and Sofia: Which fruit or vegetable conducts the most electricity?
Ginger and Cleo: Do the phases of the moon indeed influence the tides?
Andrew, Ben, and Jordyn: Will reinforcing your garage door decrease the damage done to your house in a hurricane?
Caitlin and Nina: Does building a house on stilts protect it against tsunamis?
Katie and Amelia: Does groundwater filter through gravel or sand faster?
Clio and Amanda: Does melting ice raise water levels faster when the ice melts in water or on land?
Carrie and Kyra: Do balloons or wood block flooding in tunnels better?
Juliette and Ale: Will adding probiotics to a tray of yeast help or hurt the yeast’s growth?
Thank you to all of these people and many more! We hope that next Science Night will be even more amazing!
