Meeting Assembly

Last Wednesday, a speaker named Kennedy came in to share with us the story of his organization, founded to provide a proper education to young girls, as well as provide many vital resources to his village that they would not other wise have access to. He also spoke of his challenging child hood, growing up poor, and hungry, constantly searching for a better future which at the time seemed to not be a possibility. However, he persevered in his search for a better life, and the best way to attain it was through education. Unfortunately an education was not easily accessible, and a proper schooling was completely intangible. Despite his trying situation and personal challenges, even at the time, Kennedy had a fervent desire to help others. He gathered some friends, and even though they were devoid of resources, made a positive impact on his community. They took to the streets, cleaning them each day, and Kennedy still made time to learn to do something very uncommon for someone like him: learn to read. Due to his drive, he eventually taught himself to read, and was soon spotted. He later attended Wesleyan university and soon after started his organization. He now devotes his entire life to improving his community, and wants to build five schools in his village.
