A few weeks ago the seventh and eight grade students in Triton and Phyllis’s art class took a trip to the Museum of Modern Art. We all left the school at sixth period and took the subway there. I was thrilled to be visiting such a famous and world renowned museum.
Upon entering I was completely overwhelmed by the simple beauty and elegance of the place; with its colorful designs and beautiful architecture, I could not wait to get started. We split into groups with Phyllis, Triton, Isabel, and Ed, and visited several exhibits, all complex and interesting. One of the exhibits contained many objects such as beds and sinks that upon first glance would appear like any ordinary item, but opponent further inspection and discussion were both symbolic and arduous to craft.
The second exhibit was one which held many interesting statues and sculptures depicting animals, shapes, and more. The students were asked to draw and make observations on these pieces. All in all it was a great day!
