If you were wondering what the commotion in the library was on Wednesday the 18th, allow me to inform you, dear citizen. Last Wednesday the 8th grade met in two shifts to go through a type of education-gauntlet called “Black History in 20 Objects”. In this activity 8th graders were paired up and tasked with scanning 20 different QR codes with information about objects related to famous Black Americans. The objects were from time periods that were almost 300 years apart! The facts provided on the objects was relatively unknown to many of the students, and was very informative. Though not every group got to collect data on every object some of the students met up afterwards to share notes and discuss the activity. When asked their feelings on the event most students showed a positive opinion, but a sizable portion of the students reported feeling like the event “could’ve happened earlier in the month”.
