How Idaaberro Bhass Became A Rebel

By Isabelle Pass

One of the most amazing things about Idaaberro Bhass was that she was an extremely deep sleeper who almost never woke up in the middle of the night. Not long ago, her dad had told her that she’d gone to sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow. Tonight, however, she couldn’t sleep.

She was in a prison cell, awaiting execution, and she had no idea why. Yesterday, she was at school, studying Imperial history, when police came in and brought her to jail. From there, she was lead to a shuttle that flew her to a Star Destroyer in orbit, and then she was thrown in this cell. The rations were terrible, but the bed was even worse. She hadn’t gotten a wink of sleep, and she didn’t think she ever would as long as she remained here.

All of a sudden, she heard blaster fire in the corridor.

“It’s just a prisoner trying to escape.” she thought.

Soon, everything was silent.

“The prisoner’s dead.” she muttered dully.

She lay down in an attempt to fall asleep, but her cell door opened before she could relax.

“It’s time for my execution!” she gasped, jumping up to see who’d come in to lead her to the last place she’d ever see.

To Ida’s amazement, it wasn’t Imperials, but…

She honestly didn’t know who they were. But she was too tired to take it all in as they led her out of the cell and onto a ship. They gestured for her to lay down on a bed in the room they’d taken her to. She fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

She woke up and lay around in the bed for awhile. Then she got up and tried to find her way to where everyone else might be. She couldn’t find them, but something told her where they were. She sensed their presence around a corner, and when she looked behind it she saw a girl.

“Everyone else is out in the market buying supplies.” she told Ida. “I’m Zara Song. I’m twelve. I carry a lightsaber, but I’m not a Jedi. Master Kimolina will tell you the rest. Come get some food.”

She walked over to a kitchen and handed Ida something.

“Thank you.” Ida whispered quietly. She wasn’t ever sure Zara had heard. She ate it and then asked if she could sit on the couch. Zara said yes like it was obvious she could sit on the couch. It kind of was. She sat down and sighed, hunching over and looking at everything but Zara.

“Remember when you first talked to me? You were so quiet and if the force didn’t help me hear better I wouldn’t have heard you.” Zara recalled.

“It took you weeks to warm up, and months to know us like you do now.” Ko-Udo said.

“And we know you better now too.” Master Kimolina added. Like Zara had said, she’d told Ida everything. Master Kimolina, Ko-Udo G’as, Zara Song, and Sho were all force-sensitive, as well as members of the Rebel Alliance. Master Kimolina was a Twi’lek Jedi Master, but that’s all Ida knew. Ko-Udo was a Cerean and he had an ancient relative who was a Sith named Darth Rent. Darth Rent created a prophecy proclaiming that Ko-Udo was to be a powerful Sith named Darth Nagus. Zara was a ten-year-old human from Mandalore, and Ida knew nothing else about her. Sho was Master Kimolina’s seven-year-old Fosh Padawan, and no one knew her real name as she wouldn’t tell them.

Ida was also force-sensitive, and that’s why the Empire was after her. If she went back to Coruscant she’d just be imprisoned again, maybe even executed. It was safer for her to stay with the crew of The Shadow. In fact, not only did she join their crew, but she also became a Rebel, and she was happy.
