The eighth regular season of Rupaul’s drag race is here! This season marks the 100th queen to be in the competition, and the season premiere was the 1ooth episode. So far there have been seven regular seasons, plus 1 All-star season.
In case you have never watched the show, here’s the gist. The reality show/ competition is hosted by the famous drag superstar, Rupaul. There are between 10-14 queens competing for each season. This season has 12 queens.
Each episode usually starts with a mini-challenge, and then the winner of that challenge gets an advantage in the main challenge. For the main challenge, a panel of judges critique the looks on the runway and overall performance of all the queens.
Their is a winner of the challenge gets a dress, or some makeup or some other thing that could be helpful in the world of drag. The two bottom queens have to ‘lipsync for their life‘. Then, one of those queens get to stay, the other is eliminated. All the other queens who neither win or have to lipsync are ‘safe’, and nothing happens to them.
At the moment, we have the top 4. Kim Chi, Chi Chi DeVayne, Naomi Smalls, and Bob the Drag Queen. I would be happy for any of these queens to be in the top three, or be winners.
The final challenge to determine who makes the top three is a dance/lipsync challenge. This season, the queens will have to lipsync and dance to create the music video for the song ‘The Realness’, by Rupaul.
This is unfortunate for Kim Chi, because she is known to be very uncordinated, and dancing is not her strong suit. All the other queens are pretty decent dancers/ performers. Kim is more of a make up artist.

5th: Derrick Barry
6th: Thorgy Thor
7th: Robbie Turner
8th: Acid Betty
9th: Naysha Lopez
10th: Cynthia Lee Fontaine
11th/12th: Laila McQueen, Dax ExclamationPoint
