Last month, the sixth graders went on a trip to a museum in the Cloisters. Because they are currently studying the Middle Ages, they were taken on a fascinating tour of “Medieval Stories and Legends”. We were told by Elise that the overall favorite of many were the four Unicorn Tapestries, which are each the size of a wall and tell of the “Hunt for the Unicorn”.
The sixth grade also learned a great deal about how many of the things they have been studying are made, including illuminated manuscripts (books painted with gold leaf and ornate drawings and writing)…
… and stained glass windows.
Overall, the field trip was a complete success, as it always is! The current fifth graders should look forward to it next year!
