Faculty-Staff Meeting for Business??

In a recent full faculty-staff meeting, I asked if our community might consider holding regular Meeting for Business.  I would love to invite people to respond to this proposal; perhaps we can use this blog for critical evaluation of this idea.  My current thinking is:

  1.  We hold a monthly meeting for business 3:30 to 4:30pm.
  2. The meeting for business would be optional.
  3. We would have a small committee maintain the agenda and share the clerking.
  4. We would always have a presiding clerk and a recording clerk.
  5. We would begin our session by entering into silence and end our sessions with a period of silent reflection.
  6. The minutes would be posted and shared via google drive.
  7.  The business of the meeting might include issues that face our entire community such as reflecting on how our mission is expressed in program, hearing issues where there is some conflict in our community, hearing reports from faculty-staff committees etc.

What do others think?  I am hopeful that as we learn better how to do “meeting for business”, we can better convey its power to our students and families.
