Sunny’s YPI reflection

My YPI social issue is education disparity. By definition, disparity refers to a great difference in something, educational disparities means the differences found in education varying from per pupil expenditures to access to resources and from educational racial disparities. We chose this topic because we think that everyone deserves a right to education regardless of race, social, economic status, or gender. In the beginning, I didn’t realize that it’s such a big issue. I didn’t know that it have affected so many people. In today’s world, you would think that people would have gotten a good education. But when you dig into it, you see many children wanting to learn but didn’t have a chance to learn. As I learned more about this topic and I feel more in empathy with the children in need. They are around our age or even younger. It’s amazing that how some have excess resource while other have none. The charity I picked is Children’s Scholarship Fund. They provide scholarships for students who’d out have enough financial power. They give them a second chance.

I think the really hard part is trying to connect with your Non Profit organization. They are really busy and they receive thousands of mails everyday. It is really hard for them to notice us and connect with us. I think this project connect with History because social issues is a big push in history in any country. People protested when they feel unsafe and unprotected. Social stability is a big piece in keeping people and a civilization stable.
