Liam’s Service Reflection 1

During my Senior year at Frineds I given the opportunity to volunteer at my local church’s food pantry every first Saturday of the month. Over the course of the year I learned a lot about the church’s community and about the people that frequently visited the church to worship and collect food from the pantry. Many of the people who came to take advantage of the pantry did not even speak English. However, these same people seemed to be the most appreciative of all of those who came and profusely thanked me and everyone else who helped them find a safe place to find free food and eat. I saw an extremely diverse range of people walk through the doors of the building: people of all ages, genders, races, and backgrounds. It was beautiful to see all these people come together for one common thing that we all need to survive, and I’m proud to be able to say I helped facilitate feeding them all.
