On Saturdays, I often visit the Village Temple Soup Kitchen. It’s an amazing opportunity to not only help the homeless, but also learn how to cook. Although we never get to meet the people face to face since we leave before the soup kitchen actually opens, it’s wonderful to know that what you’ve been cooking will be enjoyed by others. We learn proper chopping techniques and we help create desserts such as cookies and cornbread. It’s a lot of fun to joke around with the other participants, it’s great learning opportunity for cooking, and most of all, it’s a wonderful way to give back to the community.
