Tues. 25 March, Shanghai Day 3

Part I, Callum

Hey it’s Callum again. This morning we went to the Urban Planning Center here in Shanghai. It is a sort of museum that displays the current and future plans for this city as well as cities in general. There were many displays showing how to make cities more eco-friendly and efficient.

My favorite parts of the center were the 360 degree City View and the model of Shanghai. The 360 degree City View was a circular room with a monitor circling all around the walls. The model was amazing to see. I really enjoyed when the lights dimmed to reflect Shanghai at night. It all reminded me how bright and colorful Shanghai is.

Part II, Felix

After lunch we went to the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. We got a tour of the museum there and learned about the history of Chinese medicine. First we looked at artwork related to traditional medicine and historical records of it. We also saw some tools and pots that had been used for medicine. Afterwards we broke off to explore the rest of the museum on our own. The second floor contained some interactive exhibits that showed different demonstrations of traditional medicine, pressure points, and modern tools that are used. The third floor contained different herbs and animals that are used to create medicines. At the end some of us bought things used for traditional medicine.
