Catalog

screen-shot-2016-09-12-at-6-45-33-pmThe Friends Seminary Library uses a digital library catalog called Destiny. Destiny is a dynamic learning platform which provides access to both print and digital resources, as well as allowing students to manage their library accounts and write book reviews. Parents are strongly encouraged to look at the Destiny catalog with their children and discuss which books they might like to check out. Please note, Destiny is the platform we use to manage our physical holdings (ie print books). If you are interested in borrowing ebooks or audiobooks, I invite you to do that through Sora, our digital library collection.

Destiny can be accessed at school, from home or anywhere else! Just follow the steps below.

To search and browse the library holdings:

  1. Point your browser to https://fs.follettdestiny.com and click the Friends Seminary K-12 Library link. Pro tip: bookmark it for quick access in the future!
  2. Search by typing title, author or keywords into the search box. Alternately, select the Visual search tab on the right hand side to browse by topic.

  3. Once you have located a holding, click the title to learn more (green arrow) or to see if any copies are available (purple arrow). If the title you are looking for is checked out, feel free to ask Paula to put it on hold for you.

To check your student’s library account:

Families can keep track of which books are checked out and when they are due by logging into their student’s library account. Books can also be renewed from home.

  1. From the top right hand corner, click the Log In button.
  2. Use the google authentication button to enter student’s Friends Seminary credentials.
K-4 students’ usernames use the following template:
Last two digits of graduation year last name @friendsseminary.org

For example, if Shel Silverstein were a 1st grade student his username would be: 32silverstein@friendsseminary.org.
If Shel had a twin named Belle, their usernames would be 32silversteins@friendsseminary.org and 32silversteinb@friendsseminary.org

    Passwords

    Students in K-2nd grade: tools4owls
Students in 3rd and 4th grade: use individually assigned Google passwords

  3. A book’s due date can be seen on the left hand side and a button to renew it for an additional 2 weeks is on the far right.
