Sora

The Friends Seminary Library is thrilled to announce the launch of our very own digital library, Sora!

We hope you will find it to be a valuable and user-friendly resource for accessing books remotely. In offering this service from afar, the Library relies on parental supervision, and is in partnership with each family to make the best decisions regarding book selections and daily amounts of screen time.

*This is a new and growing collection! If you’d like to request the addition of a new book to our Sora collection, please fill out this form.

Users may access Sora on a desktop computer by visiting soraapp.com or on a mobile device by downloading the free Sora app. The mobile app and desktop version are interchangeable and when reading online, you will be able to pick up exactly where you left off even when switching between devices. Select Friends Seminary from the list of schools and then log in using students’ Google-authenticated Friends Seminary credentials, as detailed below.

Usernames

K-4 students’ usernames use the following template:
Last two digits of graduation year last name @friendsseminary.org

For example, if Shel Silverstein were a 1st grade student his username would be: 32silverstein@friendsseminary.org.

If Shel had a twin named Belle, their usernames would be 32silversteins@friendsseminary.org and 32silversteinb@friendsseminary.org

Passwords

  • Students in K-2nd grade: tools4owls
  • Students in 3rd and 4th grade: use individually assigned Google passwords

If you have trouble logging in, please click here for a step-by-step tutorial.

Connecting Public Library Cards

Increase the amount of titles or copies you have access to by adding your public library card(s)! As students at a school in Manhattan, all Friends Seminary students can sign up for a New York Public Library, Brooklyn Public Library and the Queens Public Library card! Lucky dog! You are welcome to include any other public library cards as well.

Once you have added your public library card, every time you search for a book in Sora it will search our school’s holdings and the public library holdings.
