Literacy/Fundations

A glimpse at some of our read-alouds this week:

The Day You Begin

In thinking about Latine/Hispanic/ Latinx Heritage Month 1JB read Gustavo, The Shy Ghost

We practiced the sounds and formations of different consonants and vowels like a, s and g. You can ask your child: what is the keyword picture and sound for this letter? Does it start on the plane line or the sky line? You can even ask your child to teach you how to skywrite!

Social Studies

This week, 1JB thought about the following question: What does it mean to be a good community member?

We read an article from Scholastic News to help us brainstorm answers to this question. Students created a thoughtful list of community agreements as well as specific things they can do as members of their school community.

Some more fun moments of joy and community this past week:

  • Reading together as a community
  • Practicing reading the days of the week…what comes before and what comes after?
  • Morning Activities
  • Matching outfits with our sound cards and friends!

Enjoy the long weekend-Happy Yom Kippur to those who celebrate!

See you soon!
